The MND Australia Board has had some changes recently with Professor Samar Aoun elected as Board Chair and President. Samar is the Perron Institute Research Chair in Palliative Care at the University of Western Australia and Adjunct Professor at La Trobe University, Melbourne. She is President of MND WA. Samar is also 2023 WA Australian of the Year.
Jemma Scott is now Vice President of MND Australia. Jemma’s mother passed away from MND in 2012, and Jemma has been on the Board since 2018 as an independent non-executive director. Jemma works as Company Secretary at Westpac Banking Corporation, where she is responsible for supporting the Westpac Board of Directors.
Andrew Halter continues as MND Australia’s Treasurer. Andrew joined the Board in 2017 as an independent non-executive director and is currently the Head of Legal, Asia-Pacific for FiberSense.
Amy Critchley was elected Secretary to the MND Australia Board. She has been an MND NSW Board Member since 2013, where she is currently Vice-President. Amy is a public sector professional and she also brings her lived experience to the Board through being a carer for her mother who passed away from MND.
