Melbourne Occupational Therapist wins international MND award

We are pleased to announce that Melbourne-based Senior Occupational Therapist, Sarah Solomon, has jointly won The International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations' Allied Health Professionals Award 2021, together with Dr Melinda Kavanaugh from the USA.

Sara is based at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem, where she assists other therapists with information and advice to help them to work effectively with patients living with ALS/MND. She is a strong advocate for the needs of people with ALS/MND and an active member of MND Victoria's Equipment Reference Group, the Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Association and the Palliative Rehab Special Interest Group in Australia, among others.

“Ms. Solomon is known for her ability to think outside of the box to come up with a solution that meets the needs of the person with ALS/MND who she is working with or consulting about,” says Jo Whitehouse from MND Victoria.

“She is a thought leader in the area of adjusting and adapting to rapidly changing function, and an expert on the assessment for and prescription of electronic assistive technology. She is a very worthy winner of this award.”
